Important Changes Regarding USA Shipments

Important Changes Regarding USA Shipments

From 29 August 2025, the United States is changing its import rules for all international packages. Until now, anything under $800 USD entered duty-free. With the new law, every package — no matter the value — must go through customs.

This affects all small businesses like us sending CDs, vinyl, cassettes, apparel, and Kai Koffee to fans in the US.

Pre-orders and existing orders

CD, vinyl and cassette pre-orders

  • Don’t worry — we are not cancelling your pre-orders.
  • We will cover the extra cost of switching from standard post to tracked courier, so you will not be asked to pay anything more.
  • Your orders will ship using tracked courier services to minimise any issues at customs.

Kai Koffee orders

  • Any outstanding US orders will be refunded in full.
  • We hope to find a solution in the future, but for now we cannot ship Kai Koffee to the US.

What this means going forward

CDs, vinyl and cassettes

  • Good news: CDs, vinyl records, and cassettes are all still duty-free in the US.
  • Bad news: During the first six months of this new system, the US will apply either a flat $80–$200 fee or a percentage-based duty at customs.
  • Our fulfilment partner will be rerouting all shipments to tracked couriers so that percentage-based customs (0% for CDs, vinyl, and cassettes) is applied instead of the flat $80+ fee.
  • This means you may only see a small courier handling fee on arrival, instead of a huge flat rate.
  • For new CD, vinyl, and cassette orders to the US, shipping costs will unfortunately increase, as we now have to send everything via tracked courier.

Kai Koffee

  • Sadly, with the new US law, shipping coffee beans is no longer realistic.
  • Even small-value coffee orders would face the same $80–$200 postal fee, which would make them unaffordable.
  • Because of this, we have to stop all Kai Koffee shipments to the USA for now.

T-shirts and apparel

  • Apparel manufactured outside of the US will now face high US import tariffs (16–32%), plus courier clearance fees.
  • Because of this, we will not be able to send our standard apparel range to the US.
  • However, we are working with a partner to offer a very limited range of apparel that is made and shipped within the USA, so US fans can still get merch without high customs charges.

Thank you for understanding

  • This change is completely out of our hands, but we’re doing everything we can to keep music formats like CDs, vinyl, and cassettes affordable and to make sure your orders arrive smoothly.
  • Thank you so much for continuing to support us. Your patience and understanding mean everything while we adapt to these new rules.
