About the Campaign:

We are fundraising for an animated music video for the re-recording of our 2012 single, 雫 ('Shizuku') to coincide with the 10th anniversary of its release.

There will be a brand new recording of the song, plus a cinematic anime music video with a story.

We need your help to fund and finish the project!

Estimated Release:

An early 2023 release is expected.

The Story (So Far):

Kai is a modern nomad shinobi that roams the dystopian world.

The city is overrun with mech drones armed with an automatic weapon that shoots razor-sharp projectiles that easily slices through human flesh.

Kai hunts these drones with a spirit katana - with Kai’s skills and the urge of the spirit sword to wreak havoc, they slice everything that gets in their way. The mastermind of the city – a mysterious half-bodied ghastly being – takes notice and corners Kai.

It is then revealed that the spirit in Kai’s sword is the other half of the mastermind. Immediately, Kai’s sword betrays him to re-unite with the mastermind, piercing and wounding Kai on the process.

The mastermind is now complete, a powerful god-like ghastly being.

Just before the mastermind is about to deliver the killing blow, a child Kai wakes up from the nightmare – A vast cave with the still-encapsulated spirit sword, and behind it an unconscious man with tubes connecting to the sword.

The story ends in mystery.

Frequently asked questions

Esprit D'Air is a one-man-band that relies on Patreon income and royalties, which is still very modest and not enough to fund a full production of an animated music video. We need the support from the fans to make this happen!

We have run successful crowdfunding campaigns in the past and we have always managed to get them 100% funded. If we do not reach the goal by the time limit, we will simply extend the campaign, however, this would mean the project will be delayed. Let's do our best to reach the goal in time!

If we manage to get excess funding, it will be used for marketing and advertising the project, as well as help fund our upcoming UK tour activities, which can be very expensive!

An e-ticket will be emailed to you within 24-48 hours of purchase. These are done manually, so you will not receive them immediately.

We expect to deliver the project by early 2023. Due to uncertain timeframes and whether we'd reach the goal in time, we're unable to have a specific date set in stone.

Approx. 3-4 weeks after the campaign ends. When the campaign ends, the limited edition Shizuku t-shirts will begin to be manufactured, which can take up to two weeks. After this, the t-shirts will be immediately shipped (an additional 1-14 days depending on your location).

Key Milestones:

Below is the approximate breakdown of costs that we expect from the creation of the animated music video. Once we receive funding for each milestone, we will begin work!

Milestone 1: Concept Art (Goal: £500):
Conceptual art of protagonist and antagonist, environment and the apparition.
Duration: Approx. 10 days

Milestone 2: Style Frames (Goal: £1,000):
Four mood boards & final color palette.
Duration: Approx. 5-7 days

Milestone 3: Animatic Production (Goal: £2,500):
Shizuku track accompanied by a full animatic.
Duration: Approx. 2-3 weeks

Milestone 4: One Full Rendered Scene (Goal: £3,000):
A fully-rendered scene (seconds) from the music video.
Duration: Approx. 7 days

Milestone 5: Full Animation Production (Goal: £5,000):
All-out production of assets and animation to the polished version.

Once we reach this goal, we will be able to produce the t-shirts and ship them out! Any excess funding will be used on marketing and further Esprit D'Air activities such as touring and video promotion, so it can be seen by more potential fans around the world!
Duration: TBC
